MY ST LEONARDS

3D MAKING WORKSHOPS

MY ST LEONARDS

A series of 3d art workshops for local people who have stress, anxiety or depression and live in and around Bohemia Road in St Leonards.

The theme of the artworks celebrated St Leonards and focused on a very personal perspective of the place where we live live. An exhibition of the finished artworks was publicly displayed in Bohemia Road in early 2021

The aim of the workshops was to bring people together to explore through art the reasons to be glad to live in our town and a welcome distraction during lockdown.

MORE INFO

This project was devised and facilitated by local resident LouLou Cousin.

At 17, Lou Lou started as a community artist in Hackney, on a YOP scheme. She later studied art at Uni and then obtained a PGCE in Art & Design. She specialised as an EBD teacher, working with those with barriers to their learning. She found that creativity was often the best way of engaging those who lacked motivation or have low self-esteem. She has run workshops with a vast array of people. She believes that they can gain so much, not always just practical skills. She says: 'For some it’s a game changer, it can bring people together and a sense of belonging'.

My St Leonards is part of Pitch, our public call-out for new creative projects in St Leonards that took place in September 2020.
