PLAYING THE RACE CARD - LAUNCH EVENT

PLAYING THE RACE CARD - LAUNCH EVENT

Mama Putt's, 23 Kings Rd, Saint Leonards
Friday 30 October
7-9pm

Join us to celebrate the launch of Playing the Race Card – a major new creative project led by St Leonards and Hastings residents seeking to examine the realities and the deeper historical significance of the term ‘playing the race card’

Featuring live performance from local artists and tasty treats from the Mamma Putt's kitchen. The Playing the Race Card launch will be an opportunity to hear more about the project and find out ways in which local artists who identify as black can get involved in our upcoming Playing the Race Card Online Exhibition.

“We know that all too often this phrase is used as a blunt tool to shut down dialogue. I hope that Playing The Race Card project will open up the conversations that I have everyday in my community and present an opportunity for an inclusive town-wide discussion.” Claudine Eccleston, group member.

Due to COVID restrictions audience numbers for the launch are limited and we have to adhere to the rule of 6 so if you are interested in attending please fill in this online form and we will get back to you to confirm your reservation.

We use the term ‘Black’ to include people whose ancestral origins are African, South and East Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern, Romany, the indigenous people of the South Pacific Islands, the American continents, Australia and New Zealand.
